Juneau Borough Court Records

Juneau Borough court records are case files containing documents and other materials created, collected, received, or maintained by the court system in connection with a particular case. Are Court Records Public in Juneau Borough?

According to the Alaska Rules of Court (Rules of Administration), court records are accessible to the public unless specific documents or materials have been sealed or made confidential by statute, case law, court rule, or court order. The court may issue an order sealing or making confidential all or parts of the file of an active or recently concluded court case considered sensitive. These may include individual filings, log notes, the audio recording of proceedings in the case, and the transcript of proceedings.

In such circumstances, public access to cases is restricted—only the parties to the case, their lawyers, and relevant court personnel may access these records.
